If Berkshire’s beer Festival season starts with StageCraft at South Street Arts Centre, I feel pretty content saying it rounds off with the Burghfest weekender in Burghfield Common.
It’s a two-day beer Festival so good, it sealed the deal when my family and I decided to find somewhere new to live.
From the Friday 26th to Saturday 27th September there are four bars covering craft lager, cask beer, craft beer and cider as well as Prosecco and spirits as well as a music setup the likes of which you won’t see at your average village beer Festival – all squeezed in to Burghfield Recreation Ground.
There’s something for everyone including a fun fair, street food and on Saturday – my favourite part of the whole thing – The Small Strings stage in the beer tent.
Two years ago I wrote: “While we’re at it, I think you’d have to drive an awful long way to find a beer festival with a better musical output than Burghfest. The setup really is sensational and the level of talent on show is quite incredible.”
“Back to my earlier thought though, volunteer run events are hard work when you’re on the other side of the bar, but it makes a massive difference when you know every penny you spend is going toward something, the people you are being served or helped by are enthusiastic and passionate about the event and businesses involved are almost always sole traders or doing their bit for a community,” I wrote about the sheer army of volunteers that put this thing on.
It promises to be a brilliant weekend and tickets are still available – it’s the perfect way to round off the season. Make life easy and jump on Reading Buses Lime 2 and join in.
Tickets available now via the Burghfest website here.
